Limited Internet connection

Internet connection is limited in Residence Halls Raatuse 22, Narva mnt 25, Narva mnt 27, Narva mnt 89 and Purde 27.  Estonian Educational and Research Network (EENet) has limited network traffic on all TCP ports starting from 1024. That is why it is not possible to use many Internet services. As an only exception, TCP port 1836 is opened for the use of MSN Messenger. Currently there is no information abot the possibility to open any other ports. There are no restrictions made by Campusnet network.

In order to deduce the effect of these limitations we advise to close all not-essential programs that produce constant traffic (for example P2P software) to enable the use of relevant services.

The limitations of EENet are put into use due to the huge amount of distributed copyrighted materials by our clients through file transfer programs. We are doing our best to achieve more just implementation of these limits.
